Aren’t there misguided people who think torque/lb is a thing that needs to be taken into consideration? This is the only ratio I encountered involving torque that I can think of.

Dammit my lb ft to square inches of leather ratio was PERFECT! I’ll never find another car with that much cow skin per newton meter!

Seriously though, the delivery of that line is the most confusing part of the whole ad. They’re intentionally invoking an esoteric and indefinite measurement (lol torque ratios?) to convey an air of mechanical proficiency, but at the exact moment that she delivers the line, the actress bulges her eyes in an expression that is absolutely meant to convey bewilderment at the very concept of technical aptitude. WHAT ARE YOU SAYING!? Do you know everything about cars, but you’re bewildered by your own competence? You’ve been possessed by a demon of mechanical knowledge, but you’re shocked at your new found abilities? WHAT IS A TORQUE RATIO IN RELATION TO!? I’m so confounded that I’m just going to lay grounded to the ground here in the fetal position.

TORQUE RATIO!

Wow, apparently she’s been shopping for that car since the 50’s, since that’s the last time anybody used that phrase to represent gear ratios.

If you already know HP (not effected by transmission ratios) and MPG, why would you care about the actual gear ratios? This is clearly an ad written by people that know nothing about cars except that they are befuddling (opens eyes widely) and need more insurance.
